The V.A Hospital in Detroit proposed MediLodge of Capital Area, and I’m glad they did. Every experience I had in this place was positive. The people at MediLodge of Capital Area are so professional, and I honestly felt they cared about my health and wellbeing. I was treated with respect and courtesy. It is really a decent place to recover.
I was doing some research to get a place for my mom when I found Medilodge of Capital Area. When I had my injury and needed rehab, I remembered that I had the Admissions Coordinator’s card, so I called her and came here. I would say the nursing and the activities stood out to me. The nurses were always prompt to care for me. The activities department was excellent. They had so many activities planned every day. I enjoyed painting, and I loved “movie and popcorn” days. I also enjoyed bingo. It was just great. One of my best days was the day I saw a hospice resident who always stayed in bed being wheeled around by his wife. She was so excited because she did not know they would be able to do that again. It touched me to see that. I think the team here really does a fantastic job!
My mother recommended Medilodge of Capital Area to me. She went online, read about the place, then she did a tour. After the tour, she came and told me she had found the right place for me to do rehab. She was right! For me, all the departments were excellent, mainly because they were concerned about my wellbeing. The food was not half-bad, and the nurses and therapists were excellent. The PT staff made me recover my confidence. The nursing staff was also excellent. Learning to walk again was undoubtedly one of the highlights of my stay at MediLodge of Capital Area. I also made lots of friends with the staff and the residents. I loved my roommate. I called her my partner in crime because we would often sneak out to the vending machine for goodies. I generally loved hanging out with the other residents.
I had been here before for five or six weeks, and I had liked my experience. When I recently needed rehab, the hospital presented me with some options, and I chose MediLodge of Capital Area. I will like to mention the CNAs particularly. They were kind, always helpful, and they treated me with respect. I never felt that I was a burden to them. My physical therapists were also great. They took charge and instilled in me a great deal of confidence. Two things really stood out for me. I really appreciated the fact that there was constant follow up. I was not just left in the room by myself. There was always someone checking in on me, and if I had any requests, there was still someone updating me about my requests. The second thing that stood out for me was the skill and training of the physical therapists. They were exceptional.
I had a bad experience at another facility, so when my daughter recommended Medilodge of Capital Area, I said yes. I am glad I did. The physical therapists were great. They treated me with so much respect and made me feel like a person. When they took me walking, there was always someone behind with a wheelchair making sure I was safe. I enjoyed the atmosphere in the gym, and I would instead go down there than stay in my room to watch TV. When I came to the gym, they always had something for me to do. I also enjoyed watching them help other residents. You can tell they love their job. I have had a very positive experience with the people here. I think the therapists, nurses, and kitchen staff are all great.
My name is Mary Brenke. I had been to Medilodge of Capital Area before so when the doctors at the hospital asked me where I wanted to go for my rehab, I quickly chose Medilodge. All the departments were excellent, but I will single out nursing and therapy. The nurses and CNAs were very good. They treated me with respect and were very courteous. The girls at Therapy were just amazing. They worked with me and encouraged me even when I was not feeling up to the task. I am truly grateful for them. I have had nothing but pleasant memories in this place. I enjoyed my stay and the food was good. I have only one regret, I wish I had played more bingo!
My name is Orand E. Parker. When I was considering rehab, I received three suggestions. I chose MediLodge of Capital Area because it was nearer my home in Lansing.
Was there any department that stood out? Why?
Yes! there were two departments, no three! The staff members were all great and I wish I could take them all home with me! But there are some people who stood out. They had a volunteer who would always drop by to make sure that I had all my pants and shirts. There was always the head of dietary who would stop by and say hi. And of course, the rehabilitation department… they were awesome…but as I said, I would take all the staff with me. The way they moved about their work, it was like a dance in a musical or movie. When It came time for me to go, I didn’t want to go without taking the whole building with me. I had a wonderful time here. I hope to come back for a visit. Blessings to all of you.
In 2016 I was in MediLodge of Okemos for a month for Physical Therapy. Now in August of 2018, I am in MediLodge of Capital Area for Physical and Occupational Therapies. I have to say the differences between the two facilities are extreme. Miss. Felicia the Director of Nursing at Medilodge Capital Area, is unlike any other I’ve ever seen. She doesn’t just sit in her office behind her desk. You actually see her working alongside her nurse’s and more importantly her CNA’s. Miss Felicia isn’t afraid to grab a Hoyer Lift and heading into a resident’s room to help get them up or put them to bed. The rest of the staff at Medilodge Capital Area are amazing in their own right. Everyone from the Housekeeping Department to the CNA’s especially Justin and Miss Lily were amazing. Miss Carley and Miss Claire from therapy were awesome. Patrick and Dan my nurse’s were the best. Thanks to all the staff at Medilodge Capital Area.
I recommend this facility if you have a loved one who’s already been to a facility before. The environment is calm, quiet, pleasant & one of the cleanest facilities that I’ve seen & personally visited that’s state funded. The staff truly cares for the residents’ needs. Doctor Mike is AWESOME! He explains in detail for what the resident’s needs are to (family or poa) and makes sure that the needs are being met in a timely manner. My grandmother was in this facility for about 2 months & she liked it there. The residents can decorate their room, they have good(no salt diet) food selection, great activities (games, bingo, cards, crochet, puzzles etc) The residents go on field trips(shopping, restaurants, zoo, ball games, movies, etc) every week. The staff truly goes out of their way to make sure that the resident’s stay is as comfortable as possible! The staff makes the move-in process easy. They went beyond my expectations! I just want to say to the whole staff at Medilodge… GOD BLESS YOU & THANK YOU FOR TREATING MY GRANDMOTHER LIKE SHE WAS FAMILY! HAVE A GREAT DAY. 😀
MediLodge of the Capital Area just seemed like the right fit for me. All of the floor staff were absolutely professional and caring. The employees here are some of the best I’ve come across.
I have come so far from the beginning. From my very first day until my very last day. Physical therapy has helped me in so many ways, they helped my tremors get so much better compared to before. Whereas before I couldn’t even hold my head up now I can. I can walk, eat, and talk so much better on my own. I can now better communicate with other people. The nurses have been very professional and kind hearted at all times. The administrative personnel has also been very helpful and kind to me. I have grown very close to everyone and I will truly miss a lot of the people here. The nurses’ aides have been helpful and I am glad to have had the opportunity to come to Medilodge because I am now able to be independent. I would like thank everyone at Medilodge for going above and beyond my expectations at all times.
